HRIS WF2 : Web-Based Occupational Safety and Health

The next entry I want to discuss is about Web Based Occupational Safety and Health. Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is interdisciplinary area concerned with protecting the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or employment. The goals of OSH are to foster a safe and healthy work environment, to create a healthy and safe working culture among all employees and employers and to decrease the injuries and accidents in the workplace. The function of OSH are to protect co-workers, family members, employers, customers, and many others who might be affected by the workplace environment and set out the responsibilities of employers and workers to ensure that safety is maintained in work. There are many of these organizations are governmental bodies, serving to promote occupational safety and health at work such as, the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission in Australia, the Occupational Safety and Health, Administration in the United States, the Health and Safety Commission in the United Kingdom, and the Occupational Safety and Health Council in Hong Kong. The function of Web Based Occupational Safety and Health are to record Safety and Health training. With this process we can identify whether the employee have done their OSH training or not. Because the OSH training is one of the requirement and important to make sure every employees do the work in safety condition and follow the rule that was set by the management of the organization. The other function of Web Based OSH is to accident reporting and record keeping. Accident in workplace is one of the important thing that manager should alert and make sure it would not happen to their employee but some cases accident cannot be avoid. So, that when the accidents happen to the employee so, manager should record the accident in order to make sure the same situation not will happen again. Besides that, web based OSH can help worker’s compensation claims. The record of the employee activity can make the process of compensation claims if something bad happen to the employee.
There are digital tools for managing safety trough construction. Digital technologies, such as the online databases, VR, GIS, 4D CAD, BIM, sensing/warning technologies etc., are widely applied in these tools for site hazard prevention and safe project delivery. Besides that, online databases are commonly used in assessing competence of different stakeholders. VR and database technologies to assist users in identifying potential the construction risks contained in the design at the construction stage. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and BIM have also become used in conjunction with 4D CAD to better understand construction safety issues by considering environment impact and design information.
